Let Your Dreams Take Flight

Hello Again Crafty Friends!

I decided to create my project today using the wonderful Watercolor Pan set from Little Birdie Crafts.  I used it for a soft background, to make my green paper for the leaf element and as an ink to add some accent leaves.

To start, I took a piece of Arches Coldpress Watercolor Paper and used some really light shades of green paint to start building a subtle background in the lower righthand corner of my card.  I had already picked a few papers from the Purple Passion 6x6 Cardstock pack and knew the tones I'd need for my design.  I started trimming and tearing the papers I had set aside.  Once I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I punched the focal butterfly piece and also added some Sparkle Paste in Mulberry to the back piece with the postage image.

I used dimensional tape to add my layers together and also some of the purple paint to dirty up the butterfly circle so it wasn't too perfect.  I knew I needed a bit more green on my design so I took a leaf stamp from the Shine Bright stamp set and added some leaves using green watercolor paint that I picked up off my palette.  I just smooshed my stamp into the lid of the container and used it like an ink.

Then I painted some watercolor paper in different shades of green so I could have a leaf element to put in behind my original design.  I didn't want my project to look too blue/purple.  After painting the paper, I cut it using the die from the Bloom Vista stamp and die set.

For my greeting, I took this adorable multi-font design from the stamp set Butterfly Kisses and stamped it using Memento Black ink.  It's a bright and bold black ink - perfect for greetings!

Lastly, I took some of the Mulberry Sparkle Paste and I thinned it out using some water and a stamp block.  I used the end of my paintbrush to flick some on my design.  Luckily I remembered to use a little post-it note to mask the majority of my design so the entire thing didn't get covered in Sparkle Paste.  When I was happy with my splatters, I let it air dry.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and that I've inspired you to get out your watercolors and maybe take a second look at your paper collection and take some creative time for yourself!  Have a wonderful day :)
