Hello Again, Friends!
Today I've got a fun mixed media card showcasing the lovely Poppies and Roses paper collection by Little Birdie Crafts.
To start off, I found this portion of paper with the pretty bird and the writing in the background and thought it'd be perfect for a mixed media piece. I cut it down and layered it over a piece of the textured paper from the Chevron in Aquarelle pack. The canvas/linen feel this paper has is really neat!
Next, I heat embossed using gold powder. I only used a portion of the gorgeous background stamp called Impressions from Little Birdie Crafts. I knew this rough hexagon would be a perfect accent to my project.
Then, I tinted the Mulberry Sparkle Paste using a little of the watercolor to get it to a tone that went well and accented my project. I "splattered" it all over the lower portion and the left side. I really like how it adds some dimension and some sparkle!
Next, I heat embossed in white onto some watercolor paper. My card was starting to tell me it wanted butterflies so I used the Watercolor Pan set to add color to my images. I tried to mix colors that would look natural but also keep my color scheme going. I then tore around the edges instead of trimming them. This "imperfect" look feels great for this mixed piece. I sponged on a little ink around the edges so they wouldn't be stark white. I used dimensional tape to adhere the butterflies.
Lastly, I stamped the word Beautiful from the Butterfly Kisses stamp set. Once boldly and then many more times faded. I like that the card gets to speak for itself. A few iridescent flat sequins and we're done.
I hope you enjoyed this fun mixed media piece and that you are inspired to get out those watercolors and embossing powders and have a play! Until next time....
