Flying Fairy

Hello Crafty Friends!

I have a whimsical fairy card for you today showcasing the adorable Fairy Sparkle cardstock pack from Little Birdie Crafts.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper and added some subtle wash colors to the background.  I knew I wanted to use this particular fairy from the cardstock pack and also the lovely Stitched Tag dies from Little Birdie Crafts.  I started pulling shades and tones from the main image to get my design to be more cohesive.

I then added a few feathers using the Little Birdie stencil and the reddish-toned watercolor paint from the Little Birdie Watercolor Pan set.  I liked the idea of the feathers because I knew my sentiment was going to talk about flying.  I used a light and dark version of the feathers to hopefully add some dimension and depth to the background.

My sentiment comes from the stamp set called Butterfly Kisses that I think is very versatile.  It also fit perfectly on my tag!  Underneath my tag, I added a small strip of the butterfly paper found in the Fairy Sparkle cardstock pack.  I added just a hint of Silver Glitz Metallic Wax to the edges so it wouldn't show the stark white edges.

To give my card some additional dimension, I hand trimmed a tiny butterfly from the same type of paper and went around the edges ever so lightly with a grey Copic marker to hide the white edge.  I then placed it with the wings folded up, right under the toes of our sweet fairy.  I love how this makes the sentiment come to life!

I really didn't want to have a sharp and plain type of card so I added some brick lines to the card base using ink and an embossing folder.  I also grunged up the green layer with some watercolor paint and more silver wax.  I roughened the edges when they were still wet to give them a torn appearance.  On the watercolor piece, I decided that some curled corners would look really cool so I used my wet brush and added that for texture as well.

A little bit of sparkle from the Bling Fiesta Silver pack.  Some super fine glitter on the base of her wings, a few stars and glitter dust plus some of the mirrored sequins to draw your eye toward the middle.  I love how this turned out and I really enjoy working with this cardstock pack!  Such a pretty set!

You Make My Heart Bloom

 Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I have created a watercolor card featuring the "From The Heart" stamp set by Little Birdie Crafts.  This set is awesome because it has both floral line art images and a few sentiments to add to your creations.  The fonts are my favorite because they have multiple font styles within the words.

Here is my card that I created using the Watercolor Pan set by Little Birdie Crafts.  The wonderful selection of colors makes this set a must have for any painter!

I started with heat embossing my main image using white powder on my watercolor card stock.  Then I added a water wash to the entire thing and then proceeded to add and remove color as I heat set the panel until I had what I wanted.

I also added some highlight paint colors to the flowers in the image.  I wanted a very imperfect look so I didn't spend a lot of time fussing with it.

I stamped my greeting and cut it out using the Tags Thin Cut Dies from Little Birdie.  For added contrast, I swiped a little paint over the tag because I didn't care for it to be all white.  Then I used a dark Copic marker to add color to the edge of the tag so it wouldn't get lost on the card front against the painted background.

Once everything was all glued down, I added some Pearl Drops in Dew Drop to the flowers I had colored.  I also added some Pearl Drops in Lemon Pearl to the finished card to draw your eye to my sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed my creation and that I have inspired you to have a play with watercolors today!

See you soon!
