Flowers and Watercolor

 Hello Again Crafty Friends!

Today for you I have this bright floral card where I used some watercolor crayons to color in this fun image.  I just love the one word it has inside the lightbulb....."dream".  For me, this would be a card I could send for encouragement or a celebration depending on what you write inside.

I used this stamp from the set called Shine Bright from Little Birdie Crafts.  I stamped in Gina K Amalgam ink onto a piece of watercolor card.  From there, I used my Caran d'Aache Neocolor II Watercolor Pastels.  Mostly I used them from a palette and picked the color up with my brush that way but for some of the darker areas, I did go direct from the tip of the crayon using my wet brush to add color right to paper.  I really like how you can change the hue and make blends of color to match your project easily.

I painted the silver part of the bulb with the Metallic Paint in Silver Charm to give the realistic look of metal.

After the painting was done, I used an oval framelit to cut out my shape and then I inked the edges a bit with some Spun Sugar Distress Ink so I didn't have such a stark white piece.

My base was made using a piece of cardstock from the Little Birdie Chevron in Aquarelle Linen pack that I again inked the edges of but this time, I used Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink. On top of that, I placed a piece from the Watercolor Floral Ballet paper pack.  I inked that piece along the edges in Dried Marigold.  I loved the colors on this piece of floral paper and tried to let that be my guide for coloring the stamp and also my paper flower embellishment.

I made some leaf shapes with a punch I had on hand and inked the edges in Mermaid Lagoon again.  I added some flowers from the Natalia Shabby Chic pack and then dyed some of them using the Distress Inks I used earlier.  I also did one using the Berry Blast Color Splash.  The Polina Birds and Berries flower is the bright pink one in the middle with the white stamens.  I also added some bling from the Silver Fiesta Bling Pack to the small purple and pink flowers for some extra sparkle.

Lastly, I added some clear Pearl Drops in the shade Dew Drop to mimic water droplets like you might see on an early spring morning.  Everything got mounted to a black cardstock base and there ya go!

I hope you liked my creation.  I'd love to hear if you've tried watercolor pastels/crayons too!  Hope you are filled with inspiration to create something meaningful today :)

It's All About the Good Times

 Hello Crafty Friends!

I've got a very cool stained glass looking card for you today.  I learned something new recently where you take ink that has been diluted with water and you transfer it using a piece of plastic to your project.  I adore the "outside the lines" feel that it gives.

For my card, I used this fabulous background stamp from Little Birdie Crafts called Whimsical Garden.  The line art design of this image is very appealing to me and lends itself to many creative uses.  Here I heat embossed the design using Versamark ink and black embossing powder.

I then took several colors of Distress Ink and layered them on my design, drying in between colors so I wouldn't get too much of a muddy blend in any one place.  I love how the colors, similar to watercolor, just ever so softly blended together.

I used the Metallic Paint in Silver Charm to add some accents to areas of the flowers and leaves in the design to highlight and add some sparkle.  I mounted my background to a piece of turquoise paper from the gorgeous "Songs of the Sea" 6x6 paper pack and brushed some ink on the edges of that cardstock in the color Mermaid Lagoon.  Then everything got glued onto a piece of black card stock.

For the greeting, I used one of the stickers in the embellishments pack called "Good Time" and because they come in a natural and white color, I brushed some ink on the white are that would accent the light green I used in my background.  I also added some of the Metallic Wax in silver glitz to the outside so that my greeting would blend in with my card.

Lastly, just a few drops of the Pearl Drops in the color Candy Glaze and my card was complete.  I can't wait to try this again with some other color combinations - what a fun stamp!
