Butterfly Kisses

My latest project is a really fun card using a watercolor pencil technique and the awesome stamp set called Butterfly Kisses by Little Birdie Crafts.  I really enjoy this set because I have a special interest in multi font greetings.....cursive and print greeting combos are awesome!

For this card, I started with a piece of watercolor card.  I then grabbed a few colors of my watercolor pencils and started dipping the pencils in a tiny bit of water and then coloring directly onto the stamp.  I wanted a tie dye effect so I used several colors together.  Once the color was on the stamp, I lightly missed the stamp with water and then stamped it down.

I used a little extra pigment and made a few washes of color around the border to take some of the stark whiteness off the image. I heat set everything with my heat tool.  After trimming the piece down, I then roughened the edges with a distress tool but you could also use a bone folder or ruler to do the same.

I added some chalk paint to a piece of turquoise cardstock and layered my stamped piece on top.  The pink wood grain paper is from the Boho Dreams cardstock pack.  I brushed on some of the Silver Charm metallic paint to "weather" the wood a little more.

Lastly, I heat embossed my greeting from the stamp set in purple embossing powder.  The candy glaze pearl drops complete my card today for a little embellishment.

I hope you are inspired to consider the Butterfly Kisses stamp set and maybe grab some watercolor pencils yourself and have a go at a similar card or project design.  The possibilities are endless :)
