Unicorn Notes

One of the coolest things in my stash of Little Birdie Crafts is the  Chevron in Aquarelle Linen Paper pack.  It has a neat texture with some fabulous prints and colors!  Here I've used a piece of the purple chevron design and I've taken some of the Retro Gold ink pad and added some color interest to the purple paper.  If you look closely, you can see the paper has a kind of ombre look or gradient to it and the gold makes it really sing!

For my focal point, I cut out the beautiful unicorn image from the Boho Dreams paper pack.  I also took a few strips of paper from that Chevron Aquarelle pack to layer underneath.  I grabbed a piece of Burlap paper from the Texture Brew pack as well. I sort of dirtied up the strips with the gold ink and the gold Metallic Wax.

For the accent pieces, I snagged a doily from my personal stash and colored it with the gold ink.  I used this super cute Jewel Butterfly from Little Birdie Crafts.  I had the white ones so I used my Color Splash Spray in Berry Blast to bring the tone closer to that of the unicorn image.  I also sprayed just a bit of a glimmer spray for the softest glittery sparkle.

I took the greeting from a page in the Watercolor Floral Ballet paper pack and again added some of the gold wax so it wouldn't be so stark white.  I glued it to a piece of coordinating paper form the Boho Dreams paper pack and popped it up on 2 rows of dimensional tape.

To finish, I added some Pearl Drops in Pink Bliss and some of the silver embellishments from the Bling Fiesta kit.

I love how this card turned out and I just know it would brighten someone's day to receive it in the mail.  I'd love to hear how you liked my design and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Flowers in Bloom Card

Hello Crafty Friends!

I'm so excited to be sharing my first project with you all!  I live in sunny California and I can't wait for spring time and all the gorgeous flowers to show up.  That was my inspiration for this card today.

I started out stamping the images from the Little Birdie stamp set Bloom Vista onto watercolor paper using Memento Black Ink.  Once the ink was fully dried, I went to work painting with my Arteza Brushpens.

After die cutting the images using the included dies from the stamp set, I was able to design my card.

If you look closely at the embellishments, you'll see that I used the silver mirror pieces from the Bling Fiesta kit.  I wanted some color on them so I carefully added coordinating 3D Pearl Drops in Lemon Pearl.  I also used some of the Fabric Paint in the shade Pine Sparkle for some darker green embellishments using those same silver/mirror pieces.

For the leaves on my background, I used the Little Birdie leaf stencil.  I didn't have any paint or ink in the color I wanted so I mixed the Lemon Pearl and Forest Isle Pearl Drops and used that to spread onto my stencil.  It gave such a nice, shiny texture and I love how the colors blended together.

Lastly, I used a piece of paper from the Texture Brew paper pack and heat embossed my greeting.  I chose this sweet stamp from the set called Loads Of Wishes by Little Birdie.

I glued everything down using dimensional tape and Tombow mono multi adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed my project today and I look forward to sharing more with you again soon!
I'd love to hear from you and if you liked my card or have any questions about my project.  See ya next time!

Celebrate with Flowers

Hello!

Today I have a card that was inspired by a recent class I took on Gelli Plates.  If you don't know what those are, you gotta look them up!  They are SO much fun!

So onto this card.....I used the Stampendous stamp set called Pretty Poppies and the Ranger Letterit set called Birthday.

I used my Gelli Plate to create this background using acrylic paints and stencils.  I'm telling you its SO much fun!

The stencil I incorporated is from Tim Holtz called Honeycomb.  I heat embossed the greeting using WOW! Embossing Powder in gold and versamark ink.

When I stamped this flower image using Memento black ink onto watercolor paper, I had no idea what colors I wanted it to be.  I just mindlessly played with my Arteza Brush Pens until I came up with something I liked.

I didn't have a die to cut this flower out so I just fussy cut it.  I wanted some leaves to go with it so I used a vintage Sizzix Bigz die that I had.

I added the cool edge on my background with the Tim Holtz Deckle Edge rectangle dies.

A little copper mesh from Stampin' Up! and some pearly accents using my Ranger Liquid Pearls in Taffy finished off this fun card.

I hope you get a chance to watch the Gelli Plate video or perhaps are inspired to try a little Gelli printing on your own.  Once you get going, it's hard to stop but you end up with a gorgeous pile of unique papers just ready to create into something more!
